California is one of the most beautiful places in the world.  Some consider it to be the most beautiful state in America. With its diversity of people and places to see you surely can’t go wrong when you travel up and down the coast or head inland for some adventures.  Driving the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) can be a divine experience. With its winding terrain and beautiful scenery all around you will feel like you’re in heaven.  While traveling the PCH you can make a couple stops outside of L.A. and have a wonderful experience.

Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach is a favorite of Californians.  It is thought of like the modern day Santa Cruz.  Anyone who lived in Santa Cruz during the seventies and eighties will tell you that.  You’ll find it to be open and free and at the same time gorgeous and serene.

It’s one of the only places in the United States where you can drive your car along the beach.  If you don’t want to take your car you can rent ATVs and have a blast. You also have access to decent surf and top-notch restaurants with an oceanic view.  Not to mention the hotels on the beach have so much character.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is only an hour and a half drive from L.A.  Here you will get a mix of college students, backpackers, and retirees.  Santa Barbara is known for its wineries, the historic Santa Barbara Bowl, and a plethora of great places to eat.  And don’t forget Oprah Winfrey spends a lot of time in her home there.

The green, rolling hills that line the coast are a treat for your eyes and the beach is clean and quiet.  It’s a great place to revive yourself or go out on the town and live it up.
