Kristen Fischer impressed us with some of the top dieting trends for 2019 in Healthline. They have the benefit of being both healthy, and delicious! These are my five favorites of her honorable mentions.
Gut health: One of the top diet trends of 2019 will be the replacement of probiotic pills with real food. More people will seek their probiotics from fermented food and drinks such as sauerkraut, yogurt, and kombucha tea. Since high-fiber foods act as prebiotics fueling probiotic growth, there are now more reasons to consume fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.This is good news for those of you who enjoy healthy food that’s also delicious!
Plant Proteins: 2019 is the year of the plant protein. Ethical and environmental concerns will cause more people to eat less animal proteins or switch to plant-centered diets. We will see more plant-based options such as quinoa burgers, soy, and bean pastas on the market, and this is great news.
Intermittent Fasting: One of the hottest trends for 2019 may simply be going without eating for periods of time. It’s easy to follow the rules because you don’t need to shop at the grocery story for special food items. In addition, many people enjoy the cleansing effects of a healthy fast. Pregnant and nursing women, however, should NOT fast.
Hemp Products: Cannabis and cannabidiol are expected to be a growing trend in 2019. Hemp can be used to make several food products, such as hemp seeds and hemp seed oil. Users say they like the substance’s anti-inflammatory effects. Our ability to get our hands on hemp-based products, especially ones that can make us healthier, will also increase in 2019.
